Following collaborative work across NCL, 90.3% of annual health checks for people with learning disabilities have been completed for 2022/23. This is a fabulous team effort and a great achievement for the shared concern of this community.
The learning disabilities annual health checks take place in general practice and are a reasonable adjustment that can be effective in detecting unmet health needs for people with learning disabilities aged 14 and over.
Looking ahead, the ICB is excited about continuing to work collaboratively to ensure that it can provide an annual health check to all registered patients with learning disabilities in 2023/24. It is imperative that annual physical health checks are undertaken to help identify concerns earlier and reduce the risk of premature mortality.
