Keeping Well

Health and care services across North Central London all have a shared purpose – to ensure the health and wellbeing of residents is improved.

There are many areas of our lives where small improvements can make a big difference, but other times, ill health will mean contact with one of the health and care services in NCL.

We want to make it easy for you to access the right service, and there is a lot of information available. We hope these pages help you to determine what you should do in different circumstances.

GP practices

There are many GP practices across North Central London. GPs treat all common medical conditions and refer patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment. They focus on the health of the whole person combining physical, psychological and social aspects of care. They also provide health education, offer advice on smoking and diet, run clinics, give vaccinations and carry out simple surgical operations.

GP practices are made up of teams that include GPs, nurses, other allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and pharmacists, healthcare assistants, practice managers and administrative staff.

If you would like to find your nearest GP, you can do so by searching on the NHS Choices website.

Pharmacies

Pharmacists can advise you on a range of minor medical issues. Seeing a pharmacist is often the best first step for minor health concerns, and they can provide one-to-one, confidential consultations.

You can find your nearest pharmacy using the NHS website.
