The Start Well public consultation on proposed changes to maternity, neonatal, and children’s surgical services in North Central London closed on Sunday 17 March 2024. Thank you to the hundreds of local people, staff, and stakeholders who provided detailed and constructive feedback during the consultation about our proposals.
All the feedback has been collated and analysed by Opinion Research Services, an independent research organisation, for the consulting bodies: North Central London Integrated Care Board, on behalf of the local integrated care system, and NHS England (London) Specialised Commissioning. They have produced two independent reports summarising responses to our consultation; one covering maternity and neonatal services and Edgware Birth Centre; the other covering feedback on our proposals around children’s surgery.

Next steps
The independent reports, along with a wide range of evidence and information, will be used to develop a ‘decision-making business case’ for consideration by senior clinicians and other NHS leaders in north central London and NHS England London in early 2025. The decision-making meeting will be held in public.
No final decisions have been made yet on the future shape of maternity, neonatal and children’s surgical services, and all current services continue to operate as normal.
