Health and Wellbeing Boards have been set up in each of the five boroughs that make up North Central London. These provide a forum for key leaders from the health and care sectors, and other partners, to work together to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population and reduce health inequalities.
Health and Wellbeing Boards were set up under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and have memberships from across the Council, NHS and voluntary sector representatives.
Health and wellbeing boards are a key part of the Government’s broader plans to modernise the health and care system and to:
- ensure stronger democratic legitimacy and involvement
- strengthen working relationships between health and social care
- encourage the development of more integrated commissioning of services.
