We are a partnership of NHS, councils, and voluntary sector organisations, working together to improve health and care in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington.

Haringey

We are responsible for commissioning health and care services for the people of Haringey and making sure these services meet the needs of local people.

It’s our job to make sure that residents receive high-quality healthcare services whenever they need them – whether this is advice from a pharmacist or GP, a procedure in hospital, help at home through local community services, or support with mental health.

Haringey, together with four other London boroughs – Barnet, Camden, Enfield and Islington – makes up the North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB).

NCL ICB is part of NHS North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS) which brings together NHS organisations, local authorities, community organisations and local people to ensure our residents can live healthier, happier lives.

Map of Haringey

Haringey is home to approximately 280,000 residents. Around 40% of Haringey’s residents are from minority ethnic backgrounds, contributing to the borough’s rich cultural diversity. Haringey is also home to the iconic Alexandra Palace – the birthplace of television – and has large amounts of green space, such as Finsbury Park and Highgate Woods and award-winning parks such as Bruce Castle.

Like many places, Haringey also has significant levels of inequality and deprivation. Some wards in Haringey are amongst the least deprived, whilst others are amongst the most deprived in England.

One of our primary ambitions as Haringey Borough Partnership (which comprises local health, care and voluntary and community sector organisations) is to substantially improve equity of access, experience and outcomes of health, care and community services. To do this, we are linking very closely across our organisations to address poverty and racial inequality in the borough.

We are making steady progress, but there is still a long way to go.

To achieve Haringey’s priorities, we recognise we are stronger and more effective together, which is why your NHS services (your hospitals, GP practices, community services), your Haringey Council services (e.g. social care, housing, financial support, libraries and green spaces), and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VSCE) sector services are working as a borough partnership to better connect services and improve the lives of local people.

Haringey Borough Partnership is part of the North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS), which brings together NHS organisations, local authorities, community organisations and local people to ensure our residents can live healthier, happier lives.

Haringey Borough Partnership is a local partnership of health and care organisations, including local authorities and community organisations, working across smaller geographic boundaries, coming together practically to integrate services on the ground and to work together towards joint priorities to support the specific needs of the local population.

The organisations that make up the Haringey Borough Partnership are:

Our priorities

We want every resident in Haringey to start well, live well and age well. We are working together as a borough partnership to achieve this by addressing and reducing inequalities in reach, access, experience and outcomes of health, care and community services, with a particular focus on improving:

  • How we involve residents and communities in planning, developing and delivering services to meet their needs.
  • How we promote and support residents to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles and to manage existing health conditions properly.
  • The way health, care and wider services work together to make it easier and better for residents and help them to live healthier, happier lives.

Some of the specific areas we are committed to advancing as a priority are listed below.

Start well

  • Early years
  • Mental health and wellbeing services for children and young people
  • Special educational needs and disability (SEND) provision for children and young people living with disabilities, including those living with autism

Live well

  • Support and services for carers
  • Adult mental health services, including crisis support and community services

Age Well

  • Early intervention for older people, to improve their long-term health and help them to maintain their independence for as long as possible as they age
  • Hospital discharge processes
  • Advance care planning
  • Dementia care
  • End of life care

We want to make sure that local people across Haringey have access to the care and support they need. We actively seek opportunities to find out what our local communities in Haringey think and feel about their local NHS and care services, through a range of activities, including surveys, focus groups and workshops, as well as through partner organisations and patient forums.
