We are responsible for commissioning health and care services for the people of Barnet and making sure these services meet the needs of local people.
It’s our job to make sure that residents receive high-quality healthcare services whenever they need them – whether this is advice from a pharmacist or GP, a procedure in hospital, help at home through local community services, or support with mental health.
Barnet, together with four other London boroughs – Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington – makes up the North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB).
NCL ICB is part of North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS) which brings together NHS organisations, local authorities, community organisations and local people to ensure our residents can live healthier, happier lives.
Barnet is the largest borough in London in terms of population, with roughly 402,700 residents. This is expected to rise to 446,400 by 2030.
Barnet has an ageing population, with over 58,000 people aged 65 or above, and this is expected to grow by around a quarter in the next 10 years. Barnet’s ageing population, alongside its population size, presents particular health challenges to the borough. People living longer means that they need more care and support later in life. Other health challenges for Barnet include mental health and dementia, access to urgent and emergency care, and early intervention for children and young people. The four main causes of death in Barnet are circulatory disease, cancers, respiratory disease and behavioural disorders.

The Barnet Borough Partnership is a term we use to describe a framework within which partner organisations can work with the residents of Barnet and our community assets to build a Partnership and Population Health System in Barnet.
By working closely together, we already have a shared understanding of the needs of the people who live in Barnet. This includes information about what needs to change if we are to better meet these needs in the future, what our new service models should look like, and how we will work together to deliver our vision to work together in partnership to maximise health and wellbeing for all people in Barnet.
The Barnet Borough Partnership is responsible for the delivery of care at ‘place’ – the delivery of services tailored to a local level and based on the needs and priorities of residents. The Barnet Borough Partnership will work closely with the North Central London Integrated Care System.
We want to make sure that Barnet residents have access to the care and support they need. We actively seek opportunities to find out what our local communities in Barnet think and feel about their local NHS and care services through a range of activities, including surveys, focus groups and workshops, as well as through partner organisations and patient forums.

The Romanian and Eastern European Hub has created an animation video to explain the type of medical healthcare services European nationals living in the UK can access after Brexit based on their EU Settlement Scheme status, and ways medical and social care professionals can check a patient’s status if needed.
