Congratulations to our NCL CapitalNurse Graduate Guarantee Scheme team who were awarded the Best Recruitment Experience award at the Nursing Times Workforce Awards 2023 last month.

The award-winning scheme guarantees student nurses from universities affiliated with NCL Trusts a values-based interview and early offers of employment within these Trusts. As all NCL Trusts are a part of the scheme, students are offered opportunities across the community, primary care, and hospital services, providing students with a gateway to commencing their nursing career within London. Participating student nurses are also supported to apply for roles, to prepare for interviews and navigate the entire recruitment process through structured Pre-Preceptorship Programmes and resources. This support ensures a positive recruitment experience for the graduates, and it also offers them the tools to professionally navigate future recruitment opportunities in their career journey.

The Nursing Times Workforce Awards judges praised the scheme’s team for an initiative that valued recruitment and focus, to recreate the correct cultures and bring people in to sustain a workable force. They also credited the scheme as “a transferable initiative that can be used and shared with all departments in the hospital, as well as other trusts.”

The Nursing Times Workforce Awards are an annual celebration of the nurses, midwives, and employers making a real difference in key areas such as staff recruitment, retention, well-being, and inclusion.

Further congratulations to the NCL finalists in the following categories:

  • Best Workplace for Learning and Development – NCL ICS, CPEP Project – expansive learning in practice
