Foreign Secretary visits new state-of-the-art health centre in Tottenham

Staff and patients welcomed Rt Hon David Lammy, Foreign Secretary and MP for Tottenham, to the Welbourne Health Centre in Haringey on Friday 1 November.

Mr Lammy formally opened and enjoyed a tour of the new state-of-the-art building, which features 24 spacious consultation rooms, as well as a variety of other spaces for clinicians, including GPs, pharmacists, and other members of the practice team such as care navigators and social prescribers to deliver services.

Mr Lammy said: “This is an area in Tottenham with lots of regeneration and new homes – a real mix of families, some living in poverty, others young families who have recently arrived here.

“For me, it’s wonderful to have practices coming together in this new health centre, with GPs, pharmacists, and the local health team all integrated and available to the community.”

More than 25,000 patients will benefit from the multi-purpose health facility, funded by NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board, in partnership with Haringey Council.

Located in the heart of Tottenham Hale, Welbourne Health Centre offers much-needed primary care provision in this area of Haringey. Improved digital technology enables the centralisation of the practice’s call centre team, which will help them to provide better support for patients to access services across their two sites in the borough.

In addition, Welbourne Health Centre is a training practice, attracting the next generation of GPs and other health professionals within the UK and globally to develop and work in Haringey, while helping to secure the primary care workforce for the future.

Welbourne Health Centre is one of several exciting primary care estates improvements, funded through a multi-million pound investment programme, helping to transform General Practice premises across North Central London. It means that patients can benefit from modern and accessible facilities that support the provision of high-quality primary care.
