The new Welbourne Health Centre in Haringey has opened its doors to patients for the first time.
More than 25,000 patients will benefit from the £6.5 million multi-purpose health facility, funded by NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board, in partnership with Haringey Council.
The development is the latest in a series of exciting primary care estates improvements, funded through a multi-million pound investment programme, which is helping to transform General Practice premises across North Central London and helping patients benefit from modern and accessible facilities which support the provision of high-quality primary care.
Improved GP facilities for local residents
The new centre, set over three floors, features 24 spacious consultation rooms, as well as a variety of other spaces for clinicians including GPs, pharmacists and more. It will also allow the centralisation of the Lawrence House Group’s call centre team, with improved technology helping them to provide better support for patients.
The Lawrence House Group, a GP practice which currently has four surgeries in Haringey has also moved its Hale Village (Tottenham Hale Medical Practice) and Dowsett Road (Dowsett Road Surgery) medical centres to the new site.

The development is a key part of a wider strategy to improve the health and wellbeing of the population, helping local people to live longer, healthier lives.

“It has taken nearly a decade of collaborative effort by partners in the NHS and Local Council to get Welbourne Health Centre over the line. We would like to thank everyone who has helped make the new health centre a reality.”
The NHS and Haringey Council have been working closely with property developer partner, RelatedArgent to locate this much needed space for General Practice at the heart of the new Tottenham Hale town centre, which includes 131 newly built Council homes, alongside a range of other residential and commercial spaces.
Dr John Rohan added: “The rapid housing expansion locally over recent years highlights the need for first-rate facilities that can meet the expected increase in demand for primary care.
“For residents, Welbourne Health Centre will mean better access to high quality healthcare in their community. We are proud to be part of a development that will make a positive difference to local people’s lives.”

“We are delighted by the opening of the Welbourne Health Centre, which has been achieved through close collaboration between the council and our local health partners.
“The council has made this a priority for a considerable period and know the benefits it will bring to thousands of people in the area.
“Having a much-needed facility like this will significantly improve access to health and care services for people in Tottenham, including the 131 families who will be moving into our brand-new council homes in what will become known as Walter Tull House.
