We’ve been speaking to local healthcare staff, to learn more about what they do and how they support local residents.
We visited Oak Lodge Medical Centre, in Barnet, north London and met some of their team members, including their Care coordinator, Ellie.
What’s your name and job role?
“I’m Ellie Bowman-Morris, a Healthcare support worker, Administrator and Care coordinator, at Oak Lodge Medical Centre in Barnet.

Ellie’s main messages for patients
“Did you know that you can contact us in person, on the phone and through your GP practice website? You might be offered an appointment on the telephone or online – this helps make sure that you’ll be seen as quickly as possible.
Dial 111 to get urgent medical advice (for physical health or in a mental health crisis) from the NHS.
NHS 111 will connect you with members of your local health team. If it’s an emergency, always dial 999.
And, did you know that the NHS App can help you order your repeat prescriptions? You can also have access to your own health records and see your test results.
You can download the NHS App from your phone’s app store.”
About Care coordinators
- Often part of the administration or reception team in a GP practice.
- Co-ordinate patient care across the system, to help patients make the right connections, with the right teams, at the right time.
- They may talk with patients to ensure their needs are being met, providing information and tips to prepare them for any clinical conversations.
