Health Secretary Visits James Wigg Practice to See Neighbourhood Working in Action

The Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, visited the James Wigg Practice in Kentish Town this week to see how integrated neighbourhood working is transforming care across North Central London.

He was welcomed by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jo Sauvage, and met with the East Camden neighbourhood team, who are delivering joined-up care by bringing together primary care, social care, community health and housing support under one roof.

During his visit, the Secretary of State heard directly from frontline staff about the impact of this approach—how it’s improving outcomes, supporting people with complex needs, enhancing patient experience, and creating a more collaborative and empowering environment for staff.

Praising the model, he said: “This kind of neighbourhood health centre is exactly what we want to see across the country.”

The visit also highlighted national efforts to recruit more GPs and the importance of integrated care in achieving better population health.

We’re proud to showcase how neighbourhood working is making a real difference in our communities, and grateful to the dedicated teams leading the way. A big thank you to Jonathon Levy and everyone at the James Wigg Practice for being such excellent hosts.
